  4.      While You Were Out is a telephone message system like the pink While
  5. You Were Out note pads.  WYWO manages all phone messages for various users
  6. and can be used on any DOS 3.1 compatible network or on a standalone computer
  7. system.  WYWO lets you send messages to other users, store incoming
  8. messages on file, paste messages to the Clipboard, and print messages.    You
  9. can also use passwords to protect other users from reading your messages.
  10. This shareware version is limited to five users and five messages per
  11. user to be stored.  Previosly stored messages can be deleted to allow
  12. for newer messages to be processed.  If you make use of WYWO and would
  13. like the official version 2.01 supporting 4096 users and unlimited messages,
  14. in addition to the complete printed documentation, you can order it by mail,
  15. voice, or fax direct from Caliente for a fee of $69.95, a $30 savings off
  16. the list price.

  19. While You Were Out Installation

  23. To install While You Were Out:
  24.  
  25.     1.    Create a WYWO directory where all data files and programs will reside.
  26.     2.    Copy WSETUP.EXE, WYWO.EXE, and WYWO.HLP to the WYWO directory.
  27.     3.    From Windows, run WSETUP to create the user names and directories.
  28.     4.    Run WYWO from Windows.

  31. Running the WSETUP.EXE program
  32. ------------------------------

  34. WSETUP.EXE is the administration program for WYWO.  It is used to set up
  35. all of the user names and directories for the WYWO system.  It is also used
  36. for clearing user's passwords should they forget them.  WSETUP creates a
  37. file called WYWO.DAT in the directory dedicated for the wywo system.  You
  38. will be asked for the directory's full path at the start of WSETUP.  Once
  39. entered, you will be able to add, modify or delete users that are in the
  40. WYWO.DAT file of the specified directory.  This shareware version of WYWO
  41. allows for only five users to be loaded.  To add a user, click on the
  42. Add button and fill in the name of the new user.  Click on OK to enter the
  43. name into the system.  You can modify the user's name or clear the user's
  44. password by either clicking on the Modify button after clicking on the
  45. user to be modified, or just double-click on the user name itself.  You can
  46. then change the user's name or clear the user's password.  To delete a
  47. user, select the users name and click on the Delete button.  Click on
  48. the Exit button when all users have been added.  You are now ready to run
  49. WYWO.

  52. Running the WYWO.EXE program

  55. When you run WYWO for the first time on a workstation or an a standalone
  56. PC, you wll be asked for the path where the WYWO.DAT file can be found.
  57. You can use the file selector to search and locate the previously created
  58. WYWO.DAT file and then select it to continue.  The path of the WYWO.DAT
  59. file can be found in the Windows WIN.INI file of each workstation.  Once
  60. the WYWO sheet is on the screen you are ready to send and receive telephone
  61. messages.  By selecting the Help button, you can get help on using any
  62. of WYWO's functions.  This is the on-line manual.  To get the complete
  63. printed documantation, fill out the enclosed order form for version 2.01
  64. and send to Caliente along with $69.95 (a $30 saving off the $99.95 list
  65. price).

  68. The WIN.INI file
  69. ----------------
  70. The Windows WIN.INI file holds a few parameters for the WYWO system for
  71. each PC which can be modified with the Windows Notepad.  The entries are:

  73. Path=            -> complete pathname for the WYWO.DAT file.
  74. UserName=        -> name of default user.
  75. NewMessageDelayTime -> delay time in seconds between checking for new messages.

  77. To specify a specific default username when running WYWO, pass the name
  78. on the command line for the WYWO icon or from the Program Manager.
